Description
This just came to me whilst listening to Let It Go and thinking about Shakespeare’s Tempest. I started thinking about Ariel’s past when Sycorax traps her in a tree and she eventually gets freed by Prospero and how that could make for a good parody song. So, here it is, taking place over the course of the years Ariel is trapped in the tree and right up to the point when she is eventually let out. In the picture we also have Ariel in her swim wear, her outfit when she is Prospero’s slave and an outfit she wears at the end when she earns her freedom at last.
Let Me Out:
The island quivers under her terror tonight
Not a creature to be seen
An island of death and darkness
And it looks like she’s its Queen
My friends are flying far away where they may hide
I can’t be with them; all Gods know I’ve tried
Don’t tell the truth
Don’t let her see
Don’t obey the witch that she must be
Didn’t yield
Concealed
And stayed devout
And all for nowt
Let me out
Let me out
Trapped now in this cloven pine
Let me out
Let me out
Oh, enemy of mine
I don’t care what you want to hear
It’s too cramped and dark
Won’t somebody please let me out of here?
It’s funny how quickly she’s taken over our isle
Darkness, rage and terror was never quite our style
Our days were warm
And filled with light
We lived in harmony, side by side
No coldness or fear
No rules at all
Now I call
Let me out
Let me out
Though spirits can never age
Let me out
Let me out
I can’t live on in this cage
Sycorax, please
Just raise your hand
And lift this spell you cast
My magic’s screaming from being kept inside so long
My powers feel weakened as the years keep rolling on and on
Is that someone new I hear outside of my tree?
I’m a spirit of the air
So please come set me free!
Let me out
Let me out
Will I stretch my wings at last?
Let me out
Let me out
Seems the witch has finally passed
Here I am
Bursting back to life
Free to fly again
Bet Sycorax thought I would not survive!
(I know I keep on doing these but there are just so many that haven't been done yet!)
